Bunkier jest pozostałością po dawnym garnizonie rosyjskim 15. Pułku Pancernego Gwardii. Ta atrakcja nie jest ogólnodostępna, ponieważ znajduje się na terenie poligonu wojskowego. Podczas organizowanego raz w roku „dnia wędrówki” inicjowanego wspólnie przez Bundeswehrę i miasto Ohrdruf jest on dostępny w zależności od trasy. Nie wolno opuszczać wyznaczonych ścieżek. Każde wejście na poligon wymaga uprzedniej zgody dowództwa poligonu.
