Jadąc do Masywu Retezat, w kierunku na osadę turystyczną Carnic, mijamy po drodze zrekonstruowany zamek średniowieczny Cetatea Malaiesti. Najstarsza część z 13 wieku, później rozbudowa w 16 wieku, kiedy dodano donjon. W 17 wieku zamek był już porzucony. Zrekonstruowano go niedawno. Wokół zamku widoki na Retezat. Przez kilka lat zwiedzanie i parkingi są bezpłatne, ze względu na dotację unijną. Parking może być też miejscem biwakowania. Spokojne miejsce z pięknymi widokami.
