Zamek wraz z miasteczkiem usytuowany jest na wzgórzu z widokiem na Regionalny Park Przyrody Północnych Wogezów. został zbudowany w XIII wieku, a jego fortyfikacje zostały zmodernizowane przez Vaubana w 1684 roku. Zamek był wówczas punktem strategicznym umożliwiającym kontrolę tego przejścia między Alzacją a Lotaryngią. Dziś mieści się tu siedziba i muzeum Regionalnego Parku Przyrody Północnych Wogezów. Zamek czasami określany jest też jako Chateau de Lützelstein. Swobodnie i bezpłatnie możemy wejść na dziedziniec oraz mury.
