Skała Kjeragbolten została odkryta zaledwie kilka lat temu przez Kolbjørna Solli, stąd nazwa Kolbolten. Wielki głaz wisi tu swobodnie 65 metrów nad fiordem Jøssingfjorden. W rzeczywistości głaz składa się z dwóch części jedna jest na drugiej, ale chodzenie po nim powinno być całkowicie bezpieczne. Cała wycieczka do głazu, zaczynając od punktu widokowego nad Helleren, trwa godzinę w jedną stronę. Trasa jest dobrze oznakowana i dobrze przygotowana.
