Władysław Opolczyk urodził się w 1356 i zmarł w 1401 roku w Opolu. Został pochowany pod kaplicą św. Anny w kościele Świętej Trójcy przy klasztorze franciszkanów w Opolu. Znany jest jako fundator klasztoru na Jasnej Górze, ale i pomysłodawca rozbioru Królestwa Polskiego. Pomnik Władysława II Opolczyka przedstawiający postać księcia z obrazem Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej, który książę ściągnął do ufundowanego przez siebie klasztoru na Jasnej Górze, stoi przed Zamkiem Górnym w Opolu. Autorami pomnika są Aneta i Maciej Jagodzińscy-Jegenmeer. Odlew wykonano w opolskiej odlewni artystycznej Art-Odlew.
