Puerta de la Villa jest to plac, pośrodku którego stoi fontanna z brązową statuą kobiety. Przedstawia archeologię jako kobietę ubraną w stylu rzymskim, niosącą w jednej ręce gałązkę laurową. Rzeźba jest dziełem słynnego lokalnego rzeźbiarza Juana de Ávalosa. Powstało w hołdzie archeologom, którzy rozpoczęli wykopaliska w Meridzie na początku XX wieku. Z tego placu otwiera się ulica Santa Eulalia, prawdziwa, żywotna arteria miasta, która utrwala to, co było osią rzymskiej kolonii, decumanus Maximus.
