Na początku XIX wieku brat naczelnika miasta Rygi Armidstadt kupił dwór Veckārķi i postanowił wybudować luksusowy zamek, w którym można spędzać lato, zapraszać gości i organizować luksusowe przyjęcia. Zamek został zbudowany w latach 1911-1913 i jest najmłodszym zamkiem na Łotwie. Pracowali nad nim wszyscy budowniczowie w okolicy, od Rūjieny po Valkę i nie tylko. Zamek posiadał 100 pokoi. Zamek został zbudowany według wspaniałego projektu budowlanego architekta Otto Wildau. Aż trudno uwierzyć, że prace budowlane nadzorował syn służącego Ansis Stupelis, który uczył się w szkole zaledwie 5 miesięcy. Creative Commons: Laima Gūtmane
