Tysiącletnie miasto-twierdza. Flagowe miasto Marchii Bretanii, Fougères z charakterystycznym średniowiecznym zamkiem założonym w 1020 roku, zachowało swój charakter z przeszłości. Krótki spacer uliczkami wioski Vieil, najstarszej dzielnicy miasta, dziś tętniącej życiem kawiarnianych tarasów i restauracji, jest koniecznością. Domy z muru pruskiego przypominają o dawnym bogactwie miasta.
